Research & Initiatives

Our research explores the design, synthesis, and structure–property relationships

of functional nanomaterials for energy and environmental applications.

Research Areas

Our research focuses on metal-based materials, carbon materials, and their composites. We control their composition, structure, and surface chemistry to understand and tailor their properties for energy storage, catalysis, and environmental remediation. We also develop measurement methods and international standards for the characterization of carbon-based materials.

Material Design & Synthesis

#Metal Oxides #Metal Sulfides #Multicomponent Materials #Carbon Materials #Composite Materials

Our research focuses on the synthesis of metal-based materials, carbon materials, and their composites using molten-salt, hydrothermal, solvothermal, and other synthetic methods. We investigate how synthesis conditions influence composition, crystal structure, morphology, and porosity, and how these features affect the resulting material properties.

Energy & Environmental Applications

#Environmental Remediation #Advanced Oxidation #Catalysis #Energy Storage #Electrocatalysis

Our research explores functional materials for energy and environmental applications, with a particular focus on environmental remediation through catalytic and advanced oxidation processes. We investigate how material composition, structure, and surface properties govern catalytic activity and reaction mechanisms. Our research also extends to energy storage and electrocatalysis.

International Standardization of Carbon Nanomaterials

#IEC #Carbon Materials #Interlaboratory Studies #Measurement Standards #International Standardization

We develop and evaluate measurement methods for carbon materials, including properties such as specific surface area and density, and conduct interlaboratory studies to assess measurement reliability and reproducibility. Based on these studies, we develop international standards for the characterization of carbon nanomaterials.
